A heartwarming rescue unfolded in southern India when a baby elephant got stuck in the mud while trying to cool off in a bath.

Video footage captured the struggling calf writhing on its side in a muddy puddle, unable to free itself.
As the elephant appeared to be growing exhausted, onlookers quickly alerted forestry officials responsible for the reserve.

Officials used a digger to nudge the elephant upright to assist the distressed animal gently. The driver carefully maneuvered the machine to push the calf from its lying position, helping it regain its footing.
Once the elephant was stable, the digger backed away, allowing the young animal to stand independently and escape the muddy trap.
Officials monitored the elephant for several hours to ensure it was healthy and unharmed after its ordeal. After confirming it was safe, they left the area, grateful for the successful rescue on May 15.
