Safari Guide Faces Down African Bull Elephant in South Africa, Remains Calm as the Animal Moves On (VIDEO)
A safari guide had a tense face-to-face encounter with a wild African elephant in South Africa, captured in a hair-raising video
The footage shows Steve Baillie, an experienced guide, calmly lying on the ground as a bull elephant approached him in the Balule Game Reserve near Hiedspruit. The elephant acknowledged Baillie before quietly moving on.
Baillie, a highly trained nature guide with more than 24 years of experience, advises against replicating the incident.
He explained that elephants are intelligent and curious creatures; in this case, the young bull wanted to look closer at the people sitting nearby.
However, Baillie emphasized the danger involved in such encounters. “It’s important to remember that I’m a trained professional with decades of experience in the bush,” he said. “These situations can be extremely dangerous and should not be attempted by amateurs.”
The video was filmed on December 5, 2018.
